Looking at the View

about

Written a long time ago when I was barely an adult, this song has stayed in my head. I felt like recording it recently, hoping to finally do it justice with digital multi-tracking. The nostalgic lyrics reference a time when walks along the coast in southern England led us to wonder where we might live when we were grown up.

lyrics

You wake up in the afternoon and all that you find
Is any memory of yesterday has been left behind
You light up a cigarette and have a cup of tea
And remember the times when it was always she

Do you remember? Walks along the cliffs
Looking at the view
Do you remember? The times when
I wanted nobody but you, and I still do

The countryside was so clear when you saw it last
Maybe one day you'll live there if you get the chance
As for today life goes on so fast
Tomorrow might be better if you came back

Do you remember? Walks along the cliffs
Looking at the view
Do you remember? The times when
I wanted nobody but you, and I still do

- solo -

Do you remember? Walks along the cliffs
Looking at the view
Do you remember? The times when
I wanted nobody but you, and I still do
